According to a source close to the situation, Minnesota has targeted former Indiana Pacers general manager David Kahn — who is likely to accept the job.

Kahn, 47, spent nine years in the Pacers front office — including four as the general manager — and has recently been an NBDL owner.

Earlier in the week, Portland assistant general manager Tom Penn joined Spurs assistant GM Dennis Lindsey and former Miami Heat general manager Randy Pfund in turning down the job.

Minnesota owner Glen Taylor took front office responsibilities away from McHale just following his move to the bench as the team's coach midway through the season.

According to the source, Kahn will likely be chosen over two candidates in the Timberwolves organization — Fed Hoiberg and Jim Stack.

It's still unclear whether McHale will remain as the team's coach.

Minnesota will pick sixth overall in the June 25 NBA Draft.
