The Toronto Raptors continued their makeover yesterday, signing free agent point guard Jarrett Jack to an offer sheet.
Reports in Indianapolis and Toronto pegged the four-year offer at more than $16 million US with the Indianapolis Star reporting the amount at $20 million. Jack made $2 million last season with the Pacers.
The Pacers have seven days to match, but it's believed doing so would put the team over the league's $69.9-million luxury tax figure next season. Jack, who played with Raptors star Chris Bosh at Georgia Tech, averaged a career-high 13.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists last season.
In recent days, Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo has acquired forward Hedo Turkoglu in a four-way complex deal and signed centre Andrea Bargnani to a $50-million, five-year deal. Jack has appeared in 322 career games, averaging 10.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 28.6 minutes.
