--The Pacers got the 11th pick when the Draft Lottery was held May 20.
--The Pacers' makeover in the front office continued when David Morway was recently named general manager. Morway spent the previous 10 years as senior vice president of basketball operations, which entailed dealing with salary issues and assisting team president Larry Bird. Morway will continue those duties along with taking on more responsibilities in different areas. "This is a great opportunity and a dream come true for myself and my family," Morway said. "Having been with the franchise for 10 years I know what the expectations are and what the Pacers mean to the city and the state. I can promise that we will work diligently to help fulfill those expectations."
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I think that if there's somebody that is available that can fill a need, Larry will certainly fill that need. But if you get to the 11th pick and say our need is point guard and after the 10th pick, it's clear that all the point guards we want are gone. Maybe the 18th best player on the board is a point guard, I don't think you take the 18th best player the board. I think you take the absolute best player available because the 11th pick is not going to change around our franchise next year. You're still trying to develop a group of players or assets that can grow this franchise." -- Pacers coach Jim O'Brien, on the draft.
