--Pacers coach Jim O'Brien said he isn't thinking about his contract status. He's entering the final season of his three-year deal and there hasn't been any indication that he'll receive an extension before the season starts.
"It's not something that I've really thought about a lot," he said. "(It) doesn't necessarily mean it's not a factor, but it's not something within my control. I think I was brought here to help grow a team in the direction of a champion. I think that we're doing a good job of that." O'Brien is 72-92 in two seasons.
--Pacers officials are passing the word to potential draft picks that they're looking at possibly selecting a point guard in the June 25 draft. The Pacers have the No. 13 pick in the first round.
"They talked to my agent and they said they need a point guard to come in," North Carolina guard Ty Lawson said. "They've got T.J. Ford and Jarrett Jack, but I don't know if they're happy with them. They said they need one to come in."
Ford could be the only point guard from last season returning because Jack is a restricted free agent and Travis Diener has yet to decide if he plans to pick up his player option for next season.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "Dick has the same impact that he had when he joined me with the (Boston) Celtics and we went from 27th to third (in field goal defense). His impact is substantial." -- Coach Jim O'Brien, on veteran assistant coach Dick Harter. Team president Larry Bird wants Harter to have more of an increased role with the defense next season.
