Indiana Pacers Notes, Quotes 2008-09-22
--The Pacers have 16 players under contract, meaning they'll have to cut somebody if they can't trade point guard Jamaal Tinsley before rosters have to be set at the end of October.

Forward Josh McRoberts, acquired in a the draft-day deal from Portland, could possibly be cut because he's not expected to be part of the frontcourt rotation and he's only scheduled to make $711,000 this season.

--Forward Troy Murphy and center Rasho Nesterovic are the only two Pacers that didn't workout at least one time at Conseco Fieldhouse during the summer.

Murphy, who is from New Jersey, spent the entire offseason working out in New York. Members of the Pacers training staff made frequent visits out East to see him during the summer.

Nesterovic, who was acquired from Toronto in late June, remained in Europe after playing with the Slovenian national team at the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Nesterovic, who is the last year of his contract, will likely back up Jeff Foster at center this season.

--New York Knicks president Donnie Walsh is raiding his former team's employees.

Walsh, who spent 24 years with the Pacers, hired Misho Ostarcevic to be the Knicks' director of player personnel. Ostarcevic was the Pacers' long-time international scout.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "It was kind of humbling. I make a lot of money, and I go over there and I couldn't believe what I was looking at. When I walked through the orphanage, I was like, 'Oh my God,' because I had no clue it was going to be like that." -- Pacers swingman Danny Granger, on his trip to Indonesia to take part in an NBA basketball camp in August.
